Just felt the need to post because I was looking at this thinking about
buying it and read all these seemingly fake reviews. I have another
Toshiba laptop which just got handed down to my son. I bought it 4 years
ago at my wife's graduation from basic training at Ft Jackson. It has
been flawless all except for the card reader stopped working about 2
years into ownership and the power supply died about 2 1/2 years of
owner ship. I paid $15 for a new one on Amazon. As far as Toshiba's
customer service, I have only contacted them once online and they helped
me with my problem for free outside of the warranty period. I have had
three Toshiba laptops and never had any problem with them inside the
warranty period. All of them have lasted at least 4 years of extremely
heavy use and abusive use. The first one was on construction sites
having things set on it all the time and it got dropped more than a
handful of times. It never actually died but was stolen out of my truck
when it was just over 4 years old.
I read someone on here
comparing this computer to their Dell complain that Toshiba's customer
service was in India, so is Dell's. Family members have had 5 Dells
since 2000, the first one for my father was bullet proof, everyone after
that had problems within the first 2 years of ownership. My father paid
$60 for customer service once from Dell and still didn't get the
problem fixed. I ended up fixing it for him when I was in town. My
sister had a problem where her mouse would stop working and if she
unplugged it and plugged another mouse it would work again for a week or
two. Dells answer was they sent her another mouse and told her to just
switch back and forth. So please don't talk about Dells customer
service, because it is a joke over the last 6-8 years.
The only
other brand of laptop I have ever had luck with besides Toshiba was IBM
before they sold of their PC/laptop division. I have had Dell, HP,
Compaq, Gateway and Acer laptops and only the Compaq lasted longer than 2
years, its main weakness was it had Vista and died just after I had it 3
years. So I have had some experience with laptops and Toshiba is the
company I have come to trust.
